Security Locks & Fires
Any loss of life is tragic, loss of life where avoidable is bitterly tragic and this applies particularly when it occurs as a result of a security locks and or grills. In this day and age where home invasions are becoming more commonplace, a larger number of people are fitting deadlocks or grills which can inhibit egress in the event of an emergency such as a fire. If you have locks on exit doors or windows it is paramount to create an evacuation plan and practice it until you can escape in any circumstance even blindfolded. I feel so passionate about this I urge you to do it as soon as you finish reading this article. I have also included the QLD fire departments advice on this issue. Remember locksmiths are qualified to design and install security that complies with the relevant safety codes whereas most handymen and hardware store staff are not.
