There are very few good second hand safes for sale and I believe it is because of Bunnings and Ebay. They have both flooded the market with cheap safes that just don’t last. Each week we get calls to go out and open cheap safes where the lock has malfunctioned. Twenty years ago there were four main safe makers in Australia. These manufacturing plants made great safes and employed Aussie workers but slowly Aussie consumers demanded cheaper safes. The safes that came in from Asia were made to a price rather than a quality and now the only safe making plant is CMI Safe company in Sydney.

The simple fact is that “you get what you pay for” and Masters bring in their safes with very very cheap locking mechanisms and are slapped together with the smallest welds they can get away with. CMI safe company has always ensured their safes have long thick welding runs and used quality aftermarket locks. Rather than resell any of the rubbish cheapies we only sell quality second hand safes like the one pictured. This CMI Homeguard Plus alas is now also made in Asia but the big difference is that it is made to a very high standard. If ANY of the components vere to fail the replacement parts are readily available because this safe uses “industry standard” parts. The LaGard electronic lock uses the same mounting points that was adapted from old style spin combination locks. If this lock was to fail in 15 years it will be easy to use a new lock and install it using the standard mounting holes.
