Lokaway L16 pistol safe

I have been selling and working on safes for almost 40 years and over the last 10 years I have seen an increased demand for  small hand gun safes. This may be due to more people buying them, an increase in Australia’s population or a tightening of various weapons acts. It is probably a combination of all 3 but one thing is sure, the pressure on the law abiding gun enthusiast will intensify. When you research buying a small handgun safe its wise to talk to experts, read various forums and STAY AWAY from cheap safes sold in large hardware stores.

There is huge a difference between securing rifles and hand guns. The laws governing the securing and storage of pistols & long arms is reflected by the seriousness the Police take in checking how they are stored. If you have rifles & they are stolen the Police will be concerned however if you have a handgun and it is stolen they will get VERY cranky. The media hype around handguns is intense normally let alone if they are nicked from a cheap safe with little effort.

Today I am offering my opinion on the Lokaway L16, it is suitable for storing pistols and has a 6mm door and a 3 mm wall. The best feature however is the unique way the door locks. This swing and slide technology makes prying open the door almost impossible. These safes are beautifully made and reasonably priced. We also sell the L66 which is virtually the same except it has a 6 mm door and body.
