Lokaway safes have quickly become one of the most popular safes sold in Australia. Their unique patented “swing, slide and lock” door makes it very hard to bust open. Lokaway rifle cabinets are worlds apart from the usual cheap Chinese rifle safes that you find online. These cheapies use locks that are unavailable as an after market spare part. This results in a nasty surprise when it does fail and you have to get it open and then repaired. Lockway have elected to also use a cheapie safe lock (in the digital safe lock format). However they also have added a over-ride key should this lock fail. The other smart thing they have done is use a “Standard digital safe lock footprint”. This allows you to buy a “standard after market” digital safe lock and swap it over with very little modification.
We usually charge around $200 to come out and open a digital lock on a safe safe or rifle cabinet.
A Lagard LG Basic lock which is the most popular lock used in the safe industry sells for around $270 and another $40 to fit it. The moral of this story is a cheapie Chinese rifle or pistol safe can soon end up costing the same or more than a quality safe or rifle cabinet. Anyway I suppose the main reason you are reading this blog is because you want to change the code of your Lokaway safe and need a set of Lokaway safe lock instructions well here they are.
Before you start reading them please make sure that you lock the door of the safe in the open position. This is an important step because we have done a few lockouts where people have thought they changed their code successfully only to find that they fluffed it up.
I also encourage you to hide your over-ride key some where you can find it rather than leaving either one or both keys inside the safe as some people do.
